Terms of Service

Last updated: May 22, 2026

1. Agreement

By using Intercept ("Service", operated at useintercept.com), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, don't use the Service. "You" means any individual or entity using Intercept.

2. What Intercept does

Intercept connects to your Gmail™ account and intercepts emails from unknown senders. Those senders are placed in a "Cooling Off" queue and may receive an automated challenge email asking them to verify their identity. You can whitelist (approve) or block senders from your dashboard. After a configurable number of days, unverified senders are automatically blocked.

3. Your account

You must provide a valid Gmail™ address to use the Service. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to:

  • Keep your account secure and not share access
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use
  • Provide accurate information when signing up

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use Intercept to harass, abuse, or harm any person or organization
  • Use the Service to block emergency communications or communications you are legally required to receive
  • Attempt to circumvent, disable, or interfere with security features of the Service
  • Use the Service in violation of any applicable law or Google's Terms of Service
  • Resell or sublicense access to the Service without written permission

5. Challenge emails

Intercept sends automated challenge emails to unknown senders on your behalf. These emails are sent from your Gmail™ account (using the gmail.send scope you authorized). You are responsible for the content of challenge emails sent from your account. You can customize the challenge email template in your settings.

6. Gmail™ access and data

By connecting your Gmail™ account, you authorize Intercept to access your Gmail™ as described in our Privacy Policy. You can revoke this access at any time via your Google account settings. Revoking access will disable the Service for your account.

7. Service availability

We strive for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Intercept is provided "as is." We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time with reasonable notice. During downtime, emails will not be intercepted and will arrive in your inbox normally.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Intercept shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to missed emails, blocked communications, or data loss. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free or that all emails will be correctly classified.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may terminate or suspend your account if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, your data will be deleted within 30 days.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a notice on the site.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Los Angeles County, California.
